Dance, Fetus, DANCE!

Okay, internets, I need your help.  My ultrasound appointment is at 6:30 tonight.  The mysteries of my uterus will finally be revealed.  It's a big day, people.

I googled "ultrasound appointment" because I'm at work...and, uh...I don't feel like working but instead google stupid things to kill time.  (Don't judge.  You do it, too.)  I found a bunch of suggestions to down Moutain Dew or fruit juice to make sure that the baby moves around a lot and I can walk out of there avoiding a newborn wardrobe full of yellow ducky onsies.

Should I go in there with a dance master fetus hopped up on crank?  I get one shot at this.  If the baby doesn't cooperate, I'm screwed until I squeeze the thing out.

Sorry, but it's 2010, and I refuse to play the Little House on the Prairie wait-n-see game.  I've got a nursery to paint!

Eating peppermints always did the trick for me. I think the sugar gets the fetus moving around.

Sure why not but if the baby moves too much then you might not be able to see things at all.

Do the Dew! Ha. I have an appt today and am crossin my damn fingers to score an ultrasound. I need to know there is just one. And if they happen to tell me what the sex is, double awesome bonus! Good luck with the baby cooperating. If all else fails hop up and do a few jumping jacks to throw the fetus off. Best Wishes!!!

I had a chai from Starbucks before both of my ultrasounds and it was a perfect mix of moving enough to clearly see the bits, but not moving too much so they can't get measurements!

Call up the stagecoach and call me Laura, cause we did not find out with baby 2. I must admit, we had our final ultrasound this morning and for a split second I contemplated asking. My kids both have/had fetal ADHD, so there never was a need for any other outside stimuli.

You could always fake gallbladder pain down the road and beg for an ultrasound to rule out gall stones. I did have (a lot of) pain and when they checked for stones, the ultrasound tech begged me to let her peek at the baby.
Good luck tonight!!! I will be waiting with crossed fingers for an update!

With my first, I had to leave and come back (I lived in a speck of a community and was the only ultrasound that morning). I ate some m&ms and drank a Pepsi and had brief success....enough to see it was a boy! With my second, I just looked at the screen and figured it out on my own! :)

Can't wait to hear!

Rock out the Mt. Dew. It'll do the trick better than juice! Good luck!

I didn't need anything...my tech said that we weren't leaving until we had all info or the chart including sex...

Go in with a full bladder. That way if the baby's not cooperating, you can empty it and it might shift their position or give them more room to move around and let you get a good shot.

I totally feel your pain. I say try any trick available that's not harmful or illegal. Or you could do what I did which is stall to keep the tech in there until the baby moves. Mine was just about to give up (I was this close to the situation you fear) when I begged her for one last look, and that's when we saw the little guy. Oh, I just realized your u/s is in 15 minutes (how did you get an evening appt??)...good luck!
