Pregnancy Week 36 - The Week Where I Turn into a Blowfish

Pregnancy Week: 36
Total Weight Gained: 28 pounds

I should have kept my mouth shut about my totally awesome pregnancy weight gain because now? I gained 6 pounds in one week.

(And my feet, legs, and hands are bloated so bad flip flops leave ugly marks. Yeah, it's pretty disgusting.)

Little Dr. Loompa squeezed me in again this morning because I keep flipping through What to Expect When You're Expecting and reading horror! doom! woe! pre-eclampsia! induced birth! and getting myself all worried over obscene weight gain and ankle rolls.

Good news? I don't have pre-eclampsia. Bad news? Yet. I'm borderline, and if my blood pressure spikes I will. I'm on orders to lay down, put my feet up, and avoid salt.

(And...I guess Dr. Loompa wasn't exactly insulting my cankles last time, but just noticed swelling that I was clueless about. Ahem. My apologies, Dr. Loompa.)

It's bad enough to be pregnant, but when you throw in water retention on top of it...gawd. I don't even recognize my freak show of a body anymore.

The end is near!

The silver lining here is that most of that 6 lbs is probably water weight which will come right off after you have the baby. Definitely take it as easy as possible. My friend didn't and wound up gaining 25-30 lbs of water weight (as estimated by her midwives).

I am SOOOO right there with you. My blood pressure is borderline I can't remember what my feet looked like at a normal size, it hurts to try and bend at the knees because my legs are so swollen. I gained 5 lbs in 2 weeks, twice in a row! My doctor is having me come in today to make sure my BP is not up even more. Oh and to comment on your past post at the same time I also can not wipe front to back any more and almost fell in the toilet a work trying to wipe from the back! My flip flops are the only shoes that fit, and even then I have to wiggle them on so they squish the swelling back into my ankles! Only a little longer to go (at least that is what I keep telling myself!) We can do it!

Swelling sucks! I hope you can get some rest and the swelling and blood pressure stabilizes.

Oh I hear you! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with twins and EVERYTHING is puffy - even my nose!! How is that fair?! I'm struggling to fit in to shoes and the other day, I treated myself to a pedicure and then had to walk around for a couple of hours with the imprint of the little rubber things they put between your toes... noice.

A friend put me on to your blog when you posted about the "genius" kids. You have kept me giggling so thank you - I needed your type of sanity!

That 6 lbs is just water weight, I'm sure. Almost over!
I hit "full term" today and WISH I was being told to sit and put my feet up - instead I'm scrambling around trying to finish everything up at work so that I can really "leave" when I go on leave. See if you can get your little girl to become your wee servant - all in the name of your health and the health of your wee baby!

I had the pre-pre-e with TJ too. I had so much fluid weight, my feet were unrecognizable... I know all about the flip flops cutting deep ravines into the tops of the feet. Sexy. I was on going to be induced, but TJ decided to come 6 hours before the induction was scheduled. Sweet! And even though I ended up gaining at least 65 pounds, most of it was fluid and I went home from the hospital having lost 40 of it. Yes, FORTY!

And Ive already gained 41 pounds with this baby and I am at week 32. Help.......
